Tutors send weekly updates that review recent progress, academic goals, assigned homework, and the date and time of the next scheduled appointment. For questions that require longer conversations, parents are invited to join a session during the first or last 10-15 minutes
Palermo Prep makes use of the videoconferencing software Zoom to host Small Group Courses and One-on-One tutoring sessions. Screen-sharing and screenwriting allow for student-teacher collaboration, and unless paper copies are specifically requested, students will receive all study materials including practice exams, prep books, review guides, homework sets, and flashcards electronically.
If you are experiencing technical difficulties, please let your tutor or course instructor know as soon as possible. If troubleshooting is ineffective, they will help you to reschedule the class or session that you missed. Necessary tools include a working computer with internet access, speakers and/or a microphone with a headset.
Before tutoring begins, parents are asked to provide some insight into their children’s academic goals, which may pertain to class grades, test scores, or admissions. On the first day of tutoring, students are asked to elaborate on their goals in their own words. Their tutors, in turn, help them to refine these goals and create a unique study plan to meet their specific needs.
Test prep students are assigned homework, but completing their homework is not a requirement for attending class.
